ALL 1. Competitors must wear a helmet, shoes or boots, gloves, shirt and long pants while racing. 2. Carts must have a braking device 3. Axle width with wheels on are not to exceed 48 inches (only exception is adult class entries) 4. Carts are not to exceed 6 feet in length (except adult class and those carts built to national soapbox specs) 5. Carts must have a means to steer them 6. No pedals, motors or other devices to propel the cart.
CLASS 1 - No wheels with bearings are permitted CLASS 2 - 10 inch and under wheels with bearings CLASS 3 - Any size wheels with bearings CLASS 4 - All soapbox derby carts built to national specs ****these carts may have to meet weight requirements****
RACING
ALL 1. Racers must stay in their own lanes when racing 2. First cart to reach the finish line, or go the furthest down the hill, will be declared the winner.
****ALL CARTS MUST BE PRESENTED FOR INSPECTION BEFORE THE RACES START. THE INSPECTION COMMITTEE WILL DECIDE ON WHETHER THE CART MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE CLASS ENTERED. THE ORGANIZING COMMITTEE WILL HAVE THE FINAL SAY ON ALL RACING RULES AND INFRACTIONS.
****PLEASE NOTE CART CANNOT BE USED BY MORE THAN ONE DRIVER PER CLASS!
